Virginia Nelle Bosier (daughter of Grover Guy Bosier and Flossie Edith Carmichael) was born October 03, 1917 in Guthrie Center, Ia36, and died April 04, 1992 in Rifle, Garfield County, Colorado. She married (1) Walter Thiessen. She married (2) Ray Newton Evans on 1939 in Guthrie Center,Guthrie County, Ia. She married (3) Gordon Lanight on 1949 in Rifle, Garfield County,Colorado. She married (4) Robert E. Lee Ricketts on November 03, 1950 in Rifle, Garfield County, Colorado.
Notes for Virginia Nelle Bosier: Graduating from high school in the middle of the Depression prevented her from attending college. A disappointment for the rest of her life. She played professional basketball in Des Moines, IA. for a couple of years. In 1938 she had her first daughter by her first of four husbands and settled down to work as a secretary. Her second marriage lasted approximately 18 months and produced a second daughter. With the commencement of WWII she began working for the Army and was frequently transferred from one base to another. She worked in Washington, DC, St. Paul, Minn., Kansas City, Missouri, Colorado Springs, Co, Camp Hail, Co, San Fransisco, Calif. and finally the Oil Shale plant in Rifle, Co. It was in Rifle that she stopped moving around and remained for 47 years until her death.
Virginia was a tall very good looking redhead. She had many boy friends over the years between marriages. She was quite assertive and controlling.
In Rifle she was a bookkeeper for several local firms. She was the hospital administrator for several years. She eventually retired from the City Clerks position. But she continued to work keeping books for two small businesses. The last two years she worked for the Retired persons group as Assistant Director.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose, having held many offices in the local and state lodges. In her later years she also joined the Rebekah lodge.
She was buried in Rifle cemetery next to her husband Robert Ricketts.
She applied for Social Security in 1936. She was living at 1336 Sixth Ave., Des Moines, Iowa and working for M. F. Patterson Dental Supply Co., 318 Equitable Bldg.
