Note:Jacob Board, is believed to be son of Eli Board and Abby Walters, and grandson of Jacob Walters.

Jacob was a constable in the Civil War. He checked for eligible soldiers. Occupation listed on Statement of Marriage---farmer. Jacob had saved a lot of money before the Civil War and kept it in a trunk. His wife, Elizabeth begged him, many times, to take the money and buy cotton with it but Jacob wouldn't do it. And of course he lost all of the money when the South lost the war. When the Union Soldiers came through they took everything the family had, even the clothes off the clothes line in the yard. Jacob and Elizabeth lived at Simpson, Va. He was a very prosperous farmer.
