A hearty Draper welcome to all genealogy researchers! In the 1940s, beloved relative Beatrice Holmes Draper Watts (1866-1952) wrote, by hand, the Drapers' genealogical history on a huge chart, which lay folded and unread for much of its life in dark desk drawers or dusty boxes. Not until the 1990s, when Draper genealogy became a passion among our clan, was it resurrected and given new life…and esteem. It is now a family treasure.Although many of the Drapers in America have been traced from the mid-1700s to the present — most meticulously noted on that venerable family chart — and other lines’ roots go back to Six A.D.! — a mystery (oh, so typical among family tree researchers) remains unsolved.Thomas Draper, born in about 1762 (probably in Virginia), married Elizabeth Smith Aug. 22, 1787 in Louisa County, Va. It’s believed Thomas’ father was named John, and his mother could have, maybe was, named Lucy. But that’s where the Draper line comes to a literal dead end.HELP!
