Corporal Hugh Campbell-I am seeking information and ancestors and descendants of Hugh Campbell.He was born about 1761 in Argyllshire,Scotland and died in 1835 in Markham,Ontario.Corroboration is needed, but he may have been the son of John Campbell and Margaret Clarke, with siblings James, Malcolm, John, Isobell, Duncan and Donald. He was a Corporal in the British army during the Rev. War.He was in the 38th Regiment of Foot, which, interestingly, was under command of Benedict Arnold at the Battle of New London/Groton Heights, CT. in 1781.After the war, he stayed on to accept land in Canada. He married Sarah Soverhill(Soverhill/Soveril/Fourhill line from Simsbury, Ct.) in 1791 in New Jersey or Long Island. They settled in Kingston Township, Ontario and had children Jane, John, Isaac, Hugh, Robert, Mary, Samuel, James, Alexander(my line), Aaron, and Calvin.There was movement west to Huron Co., Ont. and Michigan
