       3. William2 Ball (Daniel1 Ball***) was born 1766, and died 1844 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. He married Sarah Sally Campbell September 09, 1788, daughter of Pierce Campbell and Sarah Cook.

According to the HISTORY OF THE CAMPBELL FAMILY, compiled by H. P. Van Hoy, II in 1925, Sarah was the daughter of Pierce and Sarah Cook Campbell of Iredell County, N.C.

William Ball's estate was settled in 1844. (See: Sampson Ball, son NOTES)

       4. Daniel2 Ball (Daniel1 Ball***) was born August 17, 1763, and died September 29, 1844 in Town Branche then called Rye Cove. He married Ann June 12, 1788 in Granville County, North Carolina.

"At age sixteen, Daniel Ball first entered the service of the United States in December 1779. He was drafted into the Militia in Franklin County, North Carolina, under Capt. Richard Ransome, Brigadier General Alexander Lillington's command. Due to illness he was discharged 10 March 1780, at Charleston, South Carolina. A few months later, in June or July 1780, Daniel volunteered, and entered service again in Franklin County, under Capt. Harrison Mason in the Regiment commanded by Col. William Brickell. This Regiment proceeded to South Carolina and joined the Continental Army under General Gates, participating in the BATTLE OF CAMDEN. Following the defeat by the British under Cornwallis, the Americans dispersed ( Only 700 of 4000 men escaped - among the survivors was General Gates.) Daniel Ball was one of those who gained sanctuary in Hillssborough, North Carolina, and he was given a furlough to go home to Franklin County, North Carolina. After a short time he rejoined his Regiment, and was discharged 21 October 1780. In May 1781, Daniel Ball again volunteered for service in CASWELL COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, and served as a sergent in the company commanded by Capt. Shadrack Hargis. He was assigned to guard military stores in Hillsborough, and was discharged 27 August 1781. He last volunteered in Caswell County, and served two months as orderly sergeant under Capt. Frederick Debo by whom he was discharged at Hillsborough on 20 April 1782. "

On June 7, 1832, the United States Congress passed a new Pension Act, providing an annual stipend for Veterans of the Revolutionary War. Danie Ball, a resident of Buncombe County, aged 69, applied for benefits and made his sworn declaratio in Buncombe County Court, October 17, 1832. His pension was approved and he was entered on the Roll of North Carolina to receive $40.00 per annum. When Daniel Ball died in Buncombe County 27 Sept. 1844, his widow, ANN, aged 85, applied for a pension 4 October, 1845, under the Act of Congress, passed 17 June 1844 providing for widows of Revolutionary War veterans. ANN BALL made her declaration before Nehemiah Blackstock, Justice of the Peace for Buncombe County, and produced a written statement of her marriage to DANIEL BALL. She was approved and granted a pension of $40.00 per Annum.

IN THE 1850 CENSUS OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY, ANN BALL, AGED 92, WAS ENUMERATED AS A MEMBER OF THE HOUSEHOLD OF HER SON, AMRAPHAEL BALL. SHE DIED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY IN 1854.



DANIEL BALL married in Granville County, North Carolina, 12 June 1788, to Ann, whose maiden name, and names of her parents are unknown. According to the 1850 Census, she was born in South Carolina about 1758.

DANIEL appeared in BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA IN 1810, when he was enumerated as a head of family in the United States Census.

Moses was ordained to the office of the ministry on August 8, 1812 by Elders Thomas Snelson and Stephen Morgan. In 1818 he joined Bullo Creek Baptist Church as a charter member. In 1834 he joined Newfound Baptish Church. In 1848 he joined the Walnut Creek Church and in 1852 he moved his membership to Bear Creek Church where he remained until his death in 1859. During his life as a minister, Rev. Moses Freeman pastored a total of 13 Baptist Churches.After the death of Mary Fanny, Moses married on December 28, 1845, at the age of 72, Elizabeth Jarvis Ball, the widow of Joel Ball, who was the son of William Ball (1766-1844) and Sarah Campbell (1763-1840) . Elizabeth was the daughter of Jabez Jarvis, Jr. IT IS OF INTEREST TO NOTE THAT THOMAS FREEMAN, BROTHER OF MOSES, MARRIED MARY BALL, ANOTHER CHILD OF WILLIAM BALL and the sister of JOEL BALL. Mary Fannie Ball was the daughter of DANIEL BALL born about 1715 who married ELIZABETH OSBURN. Her sister ELSIE BALL married AARON FREEMAN, JR. (Aaron Jr. married 2nd ALABETH BALL)Mary Fannie's other sister ELIZABETH BALL MARRIED DANIEL FREEMAN.

PERSONAL NOTE:
JOEL BALL; MARY BALL, WHO MARRIED THOMAS FREEMAN; AND THEIR BROTHER SAMPSON BALL (1789) WERE ALL CHILDREN OF WILLIAM BALL AND SARAH CAMPBELL. This Researcher is the 3rd great-grandaughter of SAMPSON BALL. Sampson Ball's daughter, NANCY CLEMENTINE BALL (1827) MARRIED JAMES THOMAS MYERS. Nancy Clementine is this Researchers Maternal Grandmothers' GRANDMOTHER.

"Agreement between Moses Freeman and Elizabeth Ball" "A order of agreement entered into between Moses Freeman and Elizabeth Ball previous to the sollemnizing the rights of matrimony. The conditions is such that the said Moses Freeman takes the following property, vz.: One horse worth $40; 22 head of hogs $32; 5 head cattle $32; 9 head sheep $10; and household and kitchen furniture $60/$174. The above amount of one hundred and seventy four dollars, the property of sd. Elizabeth Ball, and I the sd. Moses Freeman do have and to take the above named property, and hold it subject to the use of sd. elizabeth Ball or her heirs at her or my death. Given under our hands and seals this 28 of December 1845 in presence of:" D.E. Freeman, Jurratt, William Fortner, James Rector. Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, April Term, 1846.
