"Dear Aunt,

He says he can hardly get anights sleep for thinking of you but I suppose you and all the familyare keeping well and some of them married by this time. He wants toask if ever you think of coming over to see him before he dies for heis getting pretty old. He is well on for seventy. I suppose youwould hear of his wife's death. She is dead 15 years now. I was onlya little thing then. His oldest daughter Mary is married to a man thename of O'Hara. They have 5 of a family but all the rest are stillsingle that is 5 of us Maggie, Sophie, James, myself and Winnie. Yourbrother Myles is in Airdrie, but I don't know his address and Neddiein Dumbarton and Francis still in Ireland. If this letter finds youalright you might answer it to me and let me know for it will set myfathers mind easy to hear from you. He says if he hears from you, hemight take a notion to go out and see you when he is able to saveenough money to take him the length and that will be a long while forwork in this country is very bad. James and myself are idle so if youhear of any work out there we will be very glad if you would let usknow. I suppose all your own family will be working and keeping well, how is your man getting on he will be pretty well up in years too forit is a thing we cannot keep back. Tell all the family that all theircousins send their best love to them not forgetting my fathers love toMr. & Mrs. Boyce themselves. I think I will draw to a close nowhoping that this will find yours alright and don't forget to answerthis from your brothers son, John Coll jr."
