My name is Arlie Howard DuBois, I am decended from Chrieten Maximillian duBois born abt. 1567 in Wicres, France.
I have been researching my family since about 1977 (the year my wife and I got married). I was stuck for a great number of years due to lack of resorces. I got started with geneology because of my Grandmothers family (Steenrod) reunion which I had attended every year untill I was about 13 or 14 years old. To make a long story short my great Uncle Louis Steenrod was at that time the Steenrod family historian, well I was hooked after talking to him for only a few minutes, he gave me over 200 pages of Steenrod family history complete with links going back to 1700.
When I spoke to my grandmother about the DuBois side of the family she said that to her knowledge there was no written accounting of the family, Well this got me to thinking...... Why not do the research myself ! well here it is so many years later and I am still doing research, but I have a lot more DuBois family information than I do Steenrod and believe me that took some doing. Just this year I got my Gateway computer, then the very first program I bought was .... you guessed it .... Family Tree Maker.
Boy did things take off then! Just since Feb. when I got the FTM prg. I have added over 1000 names to my family tree and thanks to FTM I found other sites and other people to talk to about the family. I found a second or third cousin who helped me out more than I can ever thank her for. I also found the DuBois Family Association right next door to me in New Paltz , New York and thats only about 30mins. drive from my home. To think I never even knew it was there.
I am still searching for my ancesters and those of my Mother (Hall,Benjamin,Dolan), my wifes side of the family now wants me to research there family tree (Hull,Purcell,Smith) so I will be at this for a while.
Here is a geneology report on just a part of what I have , any one and I mean anyone wanting more information on anybody in my family may contact me , I will be glad to help in any way I can.

Another note to add here, I recently recieved a phone call from a young lady who had read my page, and found that her father was my mothers cousin, funny thing is we had been "looking" for him and his mother for quite some time. We had been told that his mother had remarried and changed her son's name, as it turns out this never happened. We had a get together and all went fine, we shared information and will hopefully continue to research our family together.
