He married (1) LULA ALMEDA MOSS in Carthage, Missouri, daughter of PETER MOSS and NANCY SMITH. She was born August 27, 1872 in Carthage, Jasper, Missouri, and died March 11, 1944 in Washington State. He married (2) ANGELIA OGDEN October 18, 1860 in McLean County, Illinois, daughter of SAMUEL OGDEN and NANCY VAN DOLAH. She was born March 28, 1843 in Lexington, Illinois, and died January 17, 1917 in Pleasontan, Kansas at daughter's (Clara Adelaide (Pirtle) Hendricks) house.

James Bartholomew Pirtle had a 1st wife in Illinois, Angelia Ogden. They had 6 children. They then seperated and he moved to Missouri. They were re-united in Missouri where they had 5 more children together. They seperated again and Angelia moved back to Illinois. James moved with his 2nd wife Lula and their 4 children to Washington State in 1912 and homesteaded in the Pine Creek area of Tonasket, Okanogan County, Washington, where they had 2 more children.

Above info about James and Angelia came from Clara Adelaide (Pirtle) Hendricks, James's daughter from 1st marriage to Angelia Ogden, by way of Inez Irene (Pirtle) Wollin, James's daughter from 2nd marriage to Lula Moss.

NGELIA OGDEN:
Angelia Ogden was James Bartholomew Pirtle's 1st wife. He married Lula Almeda Moss after he had fathered 14 children with Angelia.

Angelia's brother, Albert Ogden, married James's sister, Sarah Pirtle.

James and Angelia sold the farm in Lexington, Illinois and moved to a farm near Jasper, Missouri in 1877.
