Emanuel Lloyd Duff, Jr. - Ancestors & Descendants

I have and am searching for information on the surnames Duff, Lloyd / Loyd and Gollehone primarily in central Virginia ( Fluvannah, Albemarle, Orange and Madison Counties) and in the southwestern parts( Washington County) of Virginia.

Some of my fondest memories revolve around my parents and their family. We went to Granny's ( Ella Mae Gollehone Loyd) almost every Sunday where there were always lots of cousins to play with, lots of home cooked food prepared on the wood stove, and lots of animals like pigs, chickens, cows, cats, dogs, etc. The kids played games, the men smoked and played cards in the living room and the women tended to things in the kitchen. My Grand Dad ( Thomas Cleveland Loyd) taught me to slop the hogs and estimate their weight to be sure they were growing from week to week. Life was grand and time seemed to go on forever.

Now, fifty plus years later, I look back on those times and think how much my grandchildren are missing. Perhaps by documenting their ancestry and telling some of the stories of my youth, I can recapture for them some of the good times past.
