    Perminter married 1st married Margaret Ann Strickland they had 3 children Rev. James, Samuel, and Mary. With in a month after Margaret death, Perminter Married the widow Ellen Smith Green that had a son. Perminter & Ellen had seven children. John Smith, Isaac, Armanda, Alferd Levi, Lucretia, Perminter Marion and Leander Milton. Leander is the young man in the picture.

    Alfred L Truitt Mary Christine Towey had 10 children Alferd Lee, Alice Mae, Ernest Isaac, Lauraine Mary, Walter Morgan, Margaret Alma, Maude Christine, Albert W, Floyd E and Oscar J. Alfred daughter Maude wrote "Rincon" a book on Alfred moving his family to South Texas to manage a large ranch. Then later moving on down to Mission Texas. She also wrote a book “HORSEBACKERS OF THE BRUSH COUNTRY”. This book is about his life as a Texas Ranger.
  • Perminter's oldest Son James Morgan Truitt (17 KB)
    James Morgan Truitt, had already began ministerial studies and had done some preaching when his brother and half-brother were killed in Hood Co. in 1874. His testimony helped to convict the Mitchell's at the time of the trial. After that, he did more studying and moved around Texas preaching in various Churches. Rev. James M. Truitt, was a Methodist preacher from 1873 until his death in 1886. His name can be found in the minutes of the Northwest and East Texas conference records in the Library of the School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Tx.

    Perminter Marion is Perminter Morgan and Ellen 6th child. The boy on the right is William, then there Louis, great Grandpa Truitt, Mattie is on his lap, then my grandmother Vesta and great grandma Truitt is standing in the back. Grandma Truitt said that Perminter Augustus was born right after this picture was taken. That is how I know that this was taken in March 1907.

  • Leander M. Truitt & Henrietta Massengale (12 KB)
    Leander was the 7th child of Perminter Morgan Truitt & Ellen Smith Green. They were married in Bee Co. Texas, A few years later they moved to New Mexico with my great grandpa and grandma Truitt. They stayed just just a few years then moved back to Texas in the Uvalde area where he lived until his death. He still has descendents living in that area.

    This was taken in there home near Early Texas. They were poor but they didn't know it. They had a great wealth of love for everyone. They looked at the person not at how much money they had or at the color of ones skin. They belived that a men was made by God and they need to be treated that way. They had a great faith in God and always had Bible study at night before they went to bed.

    The Truit Cemetery is a Texas State Historical Landmark. The James Truitt that is buried in this cemetery was in State Goverment when Texas became a state.

    Truitt Cemetary James Truitt ( Oct 23, 1795- June 11, 1870 and his wife Sarah Hall Truitt ( July 29, 1796 - July 3, 1848 ) Left North Carolina for Texas in 1838, Settling near this site in 1840. Truitt was a Congressman in Tne Republic of Texas. 1843 - 45: A Repersentative, 1846-1848 and Four Terms a Senator Texas State Legislature the Truitts had five sons and five Daughters. Two son fought in the Regulator - Moderator War. Three in Mexican War. Five in the Clivil War Descendants Continue to be Prominent in Texas history. Severaal Generations rest in this Cemetery which was founded at the Death of Sarah Hall Truitt
