Updates
15th. February 2007
Since the site was launched a few weeks ago a number of updates have been added.
Apart from adding some individuals and providing more information about others, the main addition has been the book. If you need to print out any or all of the book it is best to use the PDF option, otherwise the first option is preferable for on screen viewing.
Family trees have been added which are viewed in PDF format and if you use the magnifier you can the navigate around the trees to see it in more detail.
Genealogy reports are in htm format.
There are now more than 600 names on file and I am reluctant, at present, to add more as this will slow down access to the files ( unless you have a broadband connection the site may already be too slow to use comfortably). This has meant that I have not included the Illingworth family, but I have added a GEDCOM and Genealogy Files for them.
To enable more photographs to be included I have created a link to ‘My Photo Albums’ which have been posted on a different site. I would refer you to the album of photographs taken by William Charles Wright, taken during the 1890’s when he was working in Siam - now Thailand. I copied these photos over 10 years ago and their backing was beginning to deteriorate. I’ve also included a selection of photos I took when working in Nigeria in the 1960’s. Of historical interest is the site of the ‘Kainji Dam’ where the Scottish explorer, Mungo Park, was killed early in the 19th century. The Niger Delta area had not then been exploited by the oil companies. In the 1960’s transport through the delta was by water - now new roads take you quickly across it. The Niger Bridge fron Onitsha to Asaba had not been completed and a ferry had to be used for the crossing. I do intend to create another archive album of family photographs.
I hope to add other related links later.
