I am researching the Duhig family from Cork, Southern Ireland. They arrived in London around the 1840s. James born c. 1804-08, his wife Honora (Murphy) born c. 1805-8. Then there is Jeremiah Duhig born c. 1827, and his wife Mary (Cahill) born c. 1830. They settled in and around Poplar, London, E14.I have also found a Margaret Duhig born c. 1848 Ireland, her father was John Duhig, birth unknown. She married in 1875 to William Harnett and lived in 13, Sophia Street, Poplar. When she married she was living at 10, Sophia Street, Poplar.

My family the Caldon/Calnan/Cullinane's also came from Cork, Southern Ireland. They settled in Cardiff, South Wales. My great grandfather Patrick born c. 1844. On the 1861 Glamorgan census he is named as Cullinane, when he married my great grandmother Catherine Affley in 1864 the name was then Calnan. Some of their children were registered as Calnan and some as Caldon. On the 1881 census they were all Caldon. I have not found the reason as to why the name had changed other than dialect/accent. Patrick could not read or write at that time so would not have been able to correct any of the errors.

Also looking for Affley/Afley. They came over from Ireland in the 1830s. John, born c. 1815 my ggggrandfather setteld in Cardiff, South Wales. The others seemed to have disappeared after 1841. They are Henry Affley born c. 1816, James born c. 1821 and Ellen born c. 1826. Again I have had no success on tracing the Irish side of the family.

Any help would be much appreciated, and I would be willing to exchange any of my information.
