I am researching Dahlgren of New York. As far back as I was able to get was Rear Admiral John Adolphus Dahlgren, who served the United States during the Civil War, while his brother Charles served the Cofederacy. The Whitehead Family in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia, was traced back to Archibald Whitehead. Also, the Cole Family of Mississippi Alabama, and Texas was traced back to Erasmus Burke Cole and Katherine Kirby Cole. Katherine is descended from John Lawson, believed to be tied in through Mary Barry Lawson who married Frank Kirby. I am also researching Joshua Burton Taylor, and Greenberry Wilson Woods who lived in Lamar County Alabama about 1895.
The Deukmejian Family of Boston, Massachusetts, has been tough, all that is known is Dickron (Richard) Deukmejian Immigrated from Armenia, and started a business. He later sent to the "old country" for a bride. Zarawee (Sarah) came over by ship abt 1920.The name was shortened to Duke when their son George was trying to enter a prestigious school, and American names were more readily accepted in the 1940's.
Any information would be appreciated. I am willing to share all that I have.
