      1. Patrick1 Buchanan was born Abt. 1750, and died 1823 in Maury County, Tennessee. He married Margaret Apr 14, 1770 in possibly Augusta County, Virginia. She was born Abt. 1750, and died Unknown.

Will of Patrick Buchanan

In the name of God, Amen. I, Patrick Buchanan of the county of Maury and State of Tennessee , being of sound mind and memory, though weak in body, do make this my last will and testament as following vis,
1st, I give and bequeath to my sons Patrick, Daniel, James and to my daughter Margaret, each the sum of One Dollar, I having heretofore given them such property as I assigned for them.
2nd, I give and bequeath to my grandchildren, James, Martha and Mary Ann ( that is my son John's children) each the sum of fifty cents, I having heretofore given to my son John, such property as I assigned for him.
3rd, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret, all my land, being about sixty one or two acres, and willed to me by my son, John, also my Negro girl named Hannah, also my household and kitchen furniture, also all my shop tools, plantation tools and stock of every kind, and as my son, Duncan is not Compos Mentis, it is my will that my beloved wife Margaret , shall support and maintain him in consideration of the property willed to her.
I do hereby appoint my beloved wife Margaret, Executrix, and my trusty friend John Brown, Executor, of this my last will and testament, and so great is the confidence I have in them, that I request they should not give security, as the law requires, but instead thereof, I do hereby fully invest with discretionary power in this my last will and testament, and do hereby revoke and disallow all wills heretofore made by me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th of JanuaryA.D. 1819

An Inventory of the property of Patrick Buchanan,de'cd

Sixty two acres of land, two beds of furniture, six head of cattle, one small table and candle stand, one chest and trunk, one flax wheel, one oven, one skillet and tea kettle, four sifting chairs, one pail, one piggin, one dish and six plates, shop tools consisting of the foll owing: one hand brace with thirty one drills, eight hand saw files and three polishing files , three small irons belonging to a turning lay (lathe ?),one key saw, one tongue plane, seven chisels belonging to a turning lay, two mortising chisels, and one tack and one claw hammer , two dividing compasses, one hand saw, one tenion saw, three barrel augers, one screw, for cutting screws, one fore plane and yac? plane, and two smoothing planes, one cooper and foot adds , one hand and broad axe, two gouges and one chisel for turning lay, one frow, two squares, one mortising chisel and one gouge, three small chisels and one rat tale file, one frame saw, and one draw knife, one hone and whet stone, one saw set, two razors and one shaving box, also t wo bed stands, one Negro woman and child, one pair waggon wheels.
The above is a true inventory of all the goods and chattels and lands of Patrick Buchanan, De'cd, which have come to our hands and all remain in the possession Margaret Buchanan one of us
and no debts being known against the estate the same is not sold

Page 217.--22d October, 177fl. John Buchanan's will--To wife,
Margaret, executrix; to daughter, Martha, wife of John Buchanan; to son,
William Buchanan; to son, Patrick, £3, executor; to son, Robert; to son,
John; to son, James, executor; to sons, Alexander and David; to daughters,
Mary and Catherine. Robert Gnear (now in my care) to be taught the
art and mystery of a Taylor. Teste: Elijah McClenachan, Moses Williams.
Proved, 20th April, 1790, by the witnesses. Patrick qualifies. 20th April,
1790. Margaret refuses to execute. Teste: John Gregory and Jno. Wallace.


Page 378.--10th October, 1786. Thomas Rutledge's will, planter--To
wife, Jean, executrix, and sons James and Edward, executors; to wife, Jean,
apprentice boy, John Fogle; negro wench, Chloe, to choose which son she
will live with, viz: James, John, Thomas, Edward; to sons, Thomas and
Edward, home plantation; to sons, James and John, lands in Botetourt
County, on Roanoke, on North Fork; to sons, Thomas and Edward, 100
acres in South Carolina on a branch of Fishing Creek; to all four sons;
to daughter, Katarine Rutledge; to son, George Rutledge, 1 shilling; to
daughter, Elizabeth Armstrong, 1 shilling; to daughter, Ann Henderson, 1
shilling; to daughter, Mary Young, 1 shilling; to daughter, Jean Brooks,
1 shilling. Teste; Patrick Buchanan, Henry Marshall. Proved, 21st June,
1791, by the witnesses. Jane Rutledge appears and refuses to execute.
Other executors qualify.


Page 355.--18th March, 1760. Wm. Curry to John Buchanan, £21,
63 acres on Christian's Creek; corner said Buchanan's land; corner
Cowan's land. Delivered: Pat. Buchanan, December 1770.
