The grandparents and great-grandparents were too proud to accept a number during the census of the Indian Territory. It has been reported that a distant cousin researched the National Archives while working in D.C. and documented the necessary proof, but destroyed his research when it also revealed slave ancestry. I have information back to John Gordon and his son's service during the American Revolution, but the Indian ancestry comes in on other branches. Mine - Dunham. Nothing known beyond grandfather or paternal grandmother (maiden name Derrisseaux). I would be willing to share what little information that I have. |
