| John Dunphy,son of William and Johanna nee Hurley(born Co. Waterford,Ireland, 10 Jan. 1828) with his second wife Mary nee Flynn, sailed to N.Z. aboard "The City Of Dunedin" in 1876.With them were William aged 18,Patrick aged 17,Henry aged 15, Richard aged 14, John aged 12, Thomas aged 10,Johanna aged 6, Edward aged 4 (all from first marriage to another Mary Flynn) and an infant Mary Ann who died on board the ship. There were five known births in New Zealand. Matthew born 1878, Alice born 1880, David born 1884, Margaret born 1885 and Martin born 1888. John is said to have boasted that he paid for 23 baptisms, but apart from Mary Ann, we don't know how many infants died before they came to New Zealand. I am also researching the Raffe family of Ipswich, the Polmeer family of Cornwall and the Trachsler family of Switzerland. Robert Raffe married Ann Death ?1823. Their son Jubal(b. 1828) married Ellen Scroggins in 1856. Their son Francis married Anna Louisa Trachsler(b.31 October 1865 at Winterthur, near Zurich) in 1891. Charles Polmeer(?b. 1852) married Lavinia in Warleggon, Cornwall. Their son Charles,b.1880,married Ellen Scott in London ? 1902. I would like to contact anyone with any connections to any of these family names. |
