We are currently researching the genealogical history for the Dunning family in America. As well we are researching the Daly family from England and the Harvey family from the IOM. Our plate is very full !
For the Dunning Clan we are tracing ancestors of Abijah Dunning who came to America as a young man. He was married in Salem, Mass. in 1763 to Elizabeth Gregory (b.June 4, 1742; d. May 2, 1820). Abijah & Elizabeth moved in 1773-74 to Springfield, Mass; thence in 1790 to St. Johns, Canada with 4 sons and one daughter; then in 1792 Abijah once again moved his family to Longueil, Treadwell's Seignory, a few miles south of L'Original, Canada. He died there on December 1809 at the age of 75, and it is believed he is buried a few miles from L'Original at the monument in old Protestant Burying Ground at the Four Corners. This location is supposed to be close to VanKleek Hill, Ontario. As of June 25, 1915, most of his descendants were in Canada. Records and a fine Memoir of Abijah and his sons was once available through M.B. Dunning, M.D., of Bedford,Iowa. I am still trying to trace this information.

For the Harvey Clan I have information on Charles Douglas Harvey, born Isle of Man, Dec. 3, 1880. He married Blanche Alice Lauzanne and had 5 daughters and one son. C.D. Harvey's parents were Isabella Anne Dodds and Frederick Henry Harvey. If anyone knows anything about these two families, please contact me at the address below.

For the Daly Clan -- well this will be a lifetime adventure I am sure, not a hobby. Thomas Anthony (Patrick) Daly came to Canada as a boy under the auspice of Dr. Barnardo, Manchester England. Dr. Barnardo sponsored young children to Canada to work on farms in such locations as Brantford, Ontario and Winnipeg Manitoba. My father was one of those children. The Barnardo orphanage is still operating today and they are willing to forward any info they have on my Dad, but because 100's of thousands of children came to Canada in this manner, it may take upwards of a year before his name is traced in their records and the info sent to me. I must learn patience!!! Pat Daly married Mona Eileen Harvey in June of 1940 and then left for England and the WW II. He was in the Medical Corps throughout his wartime career. He had two sons, two daughters, and an adopted daughter, Bonnie Bernice. He died in January of 1969 in Cardinal Heights, Gloucester Township, Ontario. If anyone knows anything about Pat and his family from England, or about Dr. Barnardo, it would be greatly appreciated.
