Hugh Dunn was listed as owning property in what is now Durham,Strafford County New Hampshire. Hugh moved with his friends John Martin, Charles Gilman and Hopewell Hull to Middlesex County, New Jersey after receiving a land grant. Hugh's property was on the Rariton River and were contiguous to lands of John Gilman, Hopewell Hull, Benjamin Hull, Andrew Woodin, John Langstaff, John Martin and Francis Drake. Hugh had numerous children one of whom was named Hugh Jr. Hugh Jr. had a son by the name of Phineas who drowned in later life in the Raritan River. Phineas had numerous children, one of whom was Reuben who fought in the revolutionary war. We believe that Reuben was the same Reuben who moved to and is buried in Green County, Ohio but would like further verifi- cation. We already know of numerous descendants of Hugh Dunn but are interested in any available details, especially concerning later decendants. We are also very interested in any information on the ancestors of Hugh since to date we do not know how or when he came to New Hampshire or from where. |
