| April 14, 2001 5:09 PM Searching my family tree began, for me, in 1970, When I asked my dad what he knew about his ancestors. After several days on the phone ,I discovered The Family History Center at my local Mormon church. and, I got a micro-film for a census record in Virginia and made my first discovery. So, since then, I have collected TYLER, DUNCAN, HICKS, DYER, DANN, KEISTER, PRYOR, VAN SCOY, OVERTON, LOCKWOOD, FOSTER ( FAUSTINO) and fallen in love with the names and families of West Virginia especially Randolph county and the surrounding counties. I have met some very wonderful people and am still adding to my friend collection I have learned much, beyond the usual family names. In October of 1998, I suffered a massive stroke that paralyzed mostly my left side( I was left-handed ) I sat watching TV for most of 1999 and then decided to see how much I could do on the computer. Amazingly, one day I found myself answering over 500 E-mails. And I kept adding to my activities until I now find myself creating this web page. Now , I am working on extending my two major lines of DUNCAN & TYLER, with two more for mainly HICKS and MOUNTS/MOUNCE, also, I am collecting all the photos and stories connected to my family that I can amass. It keeps me busy and it will give a gift down the ages to my descendants. It will give them a sense of who they are and where they come from. Please know this is a work in progress by a person who makes mistakes and tries to correct them as soon as she finds them. I hope you find something of use here. |
