Greetings! I have just started to pick up with my family's genealogy research where my father left off. I've already found as much as he did in several years of hard work with only a few weeks on the internet.
I'm mainly researching the surnames of Andrew, Dupree, and Steigerwalt/Stirewalt. The Steigerwalts came to America in the mid-1700's from Wurtemberg, Germany and settled in the Pennsylvania area. I've found Johannes Steigerwalt and his sister Anna Margaretha as the two earliest who came to America. Johannes left Pennsylvania shortly after marrying Mary Kungel in 1758, and moved to central North Carolina. Johannes was one of the Deutsch immigrants responsible for setting up the Lutheran church in America. He brought the parts for and built one of the very first pipe church organs in the country in Rowan County, and many of his ancestors still live in the area.
