7. RICHARD⁶ BRACEWELL (RICHARD⁵, ROBERT⁴, RICHARD³, ROBERT², EDMUND¹) was born Abt. 1672 in Isle of Wight County, Va., and died 1731 in Bertie County, S.C.. He married ELEANOR.

8. VALENTINE⁶ BRACEWELL (RICHARD⁵, ROBERT⁴, RICHARD³, ROBERT², EDMUND¹) was born Abt. 1679 in Isle of Wight County, Va., and died Abt. 1728. He married JANE POPE. She was born in Virginia, and died in North Carolina.

Name change from Bracewell to Braswell started in this generation. Jacob and Elizabeth moved to Edgecombe County in 1728, having sold their land in Bertie County in 1727 (Bertie County Book C, pg. 360). Braswells began spreading out over the surrounding counties. In 1751 Peachtree Creek was written into the records as Braswell Creek. He sold the last of his holdings in Edgecombe county in 1762 and moved to Johnson County (Halifax County Deed Book 1; Edgecombe Book 1, pg. 232).

From Ray Sasser: She is thought to be a sister of Benjamin Cooper. She outlived Zebulon and later married John Brassell in about 1740.
