--------------
Elwood Call-Leader, 22 Jan 1917, Obituary of Virginia Elizabeth Gavin
ANOTHER DEATH IS DUE TO MEASLES
One Child Dies and Two Others in Gavin Home Are Ill
Virginia Elizabeth, the two-year-old daughter of Martin and Edna Gavin, living northwest of the city in the Windfall neighborhood, died yesterday, from an attack of pneumonia and membraneous croup, following an attack of measles. The child was ill but a few hours with the croup and all efforts of physicians to save the little life failed. The funeral which was strickly [sic] private was held at the home this afternoon, Father Biegel in charge, and interment followed in the Catholic cemetery.
A six months-old child in the home is also ill with pneumonia following the measles at this time and a child three years old is also suffering from the measles although the condition of the latter is not serious at this time.
