I am researching the Campbell's and the Barber's of Sherborne, Massachusetts and the Miller's of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. I'm also looking for the Durrenberg's in the Schernberg area of Germany and the Sawyer's in England. All from the 1800's and before.
My Great Great Grandfather was Milo R Campbell from Holliston, Massachusetts. He was born in 1814, married Mary Barber (decendent of Captain George Barbour) in 1841. Milo died in Pontiac, Michigan in 1903.
My other Great Great Grandfather was Jabez Miller from Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. I haven't got much information on him. I know he served in the Civil War. His son was Fred B. Miller was born in 1880. His wife was Anna Dyteman who imigrated from Germany. Fred and Anna were in Bedford, Ma in 1902 when my grandmother was born. He was a glass cutter and later managed movie theaters in Detroit in the 1920s and 1930s when he died.
My German ties are from my grandfather Carl Durrenberg. He was born in Schernberg, Germany in 1890. His wife was Mabel Sawyer of England.
My wife, Linda is researching Haak & Uhlemann and Lorenz & Kappel in the Limbach, Chemnitz and Dresden areas of Germany. Also Schaefer & Mahler in the Apolda area of Germany. Her Great-grandfather and Great-grandmother on her mother's mother side was Louis Haak
and Marie Uhlemann. They had one daughter that remained in Germany with her husband and children. This daughter's name was
Johanna (nickname Hannl) Fischer, husband's name Alfred and children were Curt, Alice and Alfred. Linda's great-grandfather and great-grandmother on her mother's father's side was Heinrich
Lorenz and Johanna Kappel. Their children were Marie, Anna and Emil (which was Linda's grandfather). Marie and Anna remained in Germany. All we know is that Marie, a nurse, died of tuberculosis and Anna, also a nurse, married Marie's husband, Oswald Wehnert and helped raise Marie's two children, Erich and Ericka.
On the Schaefer side Linda's grandfather was Gustav Schaefer and his wife was Marie Mahler. Marie has five other sisters and one brother that remained in Germany.
