1. Born in Dudley . Went to King Edward Five Ways Birmingham then to Aston University Birmingham , whilst working at TI. After qualifying, worked full time as an engineer at Nationa Tube , Halesowen. He met his future wife at this company who was working as a Wage Clerk. After 24 years at this comapany, rising to Asst. Works Director , the company was closed and he was transferred to Accles and Pollock of Oldbury.After his marriage to Pat , they set up House in Wordsley and Had two children Iain and Paul. He lasted two years at A& P and was then through closure made redundant. He then worked for a further 3 years at Phoeonix Tube at West Bromwich, again being made redundant through closure of the company. He then went to work back at Halesowen at a company called Wilmid who were tube manipulators. After about 15 years the company was sold and moved to Shirley . By this time he had moved into technical Sales.Through bad management the company went into liquidation and was bought by Wagon who after 2 years sold the company to WST Engineering. This lasted two more years and the company again went into liquidation and redudancy again for Alan. He then found a job at a West Bromwich company called Maxpower and worked there part time in Sales until hisfinla retirement at 65 yrs.
