| Alec Duthie was born at Kirriemuir in 1814 and along with his sister Helen , her husband Peter Bruce and daughter Diana left for New Zealand in early October 1840 aboard "Lady Nugent" from London , arriving Wellington march 18415 months later. ,where he married Jane Martin , a fellow passenger . Went to Dunedin in 1845 and settled at the Tokomairiro Plain , which is now Milton where he died 1863. Have family mostly traced back to a John Duthie born of John Duthie 1717 at Kirriemuir. Work on this Family was started many years ago by Edward "Jack" Duthie and his cousin John Perry and carried on to this day by Alan Duthie and his son Alistair Duthie , Alistair returned to Scotland as a top Bagpiper, joined the "Black Watch" and rising to "Pipe Major" from 1999 to 2003. |
