The Heath & Rush Family Tree

Updated January 19, 2009

This collection represents my family tree as traced through my maternal grandmother, Alice Frewer Heath and my maternal grandfather, Percy Samuel Rush.

At some time in the mid 1980’s my sister Marguerita, on a visit from Australia, presented me with a hand written sheet which ignited my interest. This had been collated by Aunty Babs( Gladys Helen Rush) my mother’s sister.

In addition to the tree there was a typed document produced by either Arthur or Denys Young, sons of Constance Heath and James Young. This provides an insight into the history of the Heath’s.

With the addition of a computer in the 1990’s and the purchase of a Family Tree programme the real work began. Hours of trial and error resulted in the production of the 1st tree that was despatched to all members of the Dutton, Winer and Poole families for verification. Constant updates were made, photographs collected and memories noted.

The introduction of Internet access opened up new sources and provided additional information.

There was little documented evidence of the Rush Family at the beginning of this project. The only references I had were to Percy Samuel Rush, my Grandfather.

Brian, my eldest brother, used a professional Genealogist Company to research back 3 generations from Percy. Their findings can be seen in the following pages. Although this was to reveal valuable information and documented evidence more detail needed to be found. The social history of the family was still a mystery as there is no one with any knowledge of the early Rush Family.

When looking at the wedding photograph of Percy Rush and Alice Heath the only members of the Rush Family are the person I assumed was Percy’s mother, Henrietta Brown and the other children, Gladys, Grace, Eddie and Harold. There is an age gap between the children. Later investigation established that the lady in the photograph was Samuel’s second wife Edith Maclaine.

Using various internet sources I was able to establish that Percy and Gladys mother was Henrietta and the mother of Grace, Eddie and Harold was Edith. If Samuel was alive at this time he does not appear to be at the wedding.

Further information has now been added.
