I am researching my family (Teichman/Glanz) and my husbands family (Dvorak/Conklin) and the history behind these families. Part of my family came to the USA (Cleveland, Ohio) from Austria (Galicia) and Hungary in the early 1900's. We don't have any data before this time. These surnames are: Glanz and Klein.
My ancestors also came from Latvia and other parts of Russia two generations ago. Children were born here around 1910, but their parents were born in Russia, so they emmigrated probably between 1890 or early 1900. These surnames are: Berkowitz, Allenick, Teichman, Levy, and Herzig
From my husband's side of the family we know quite a bit about part of the family which is from England. These surnames are: Holt and Jeffords and Gary (in Connecticut by or before 1760, there is actually a book with a lot of this information in it), Ballou (in New York around 1800?), Conklin (came to Chicago?), Andrews(came to Tennessee), Capwell, and Barnes.
Others of his ancestors also came to the USA (Chicago, Illinois) around the 1900's. These surnames are: Dvorak, Bliml, and Cisar(from Bohemia), Haury(from France), and Warkentan (from Germany).
If you have any information about these surnames or any history of the areas that they left around the time period that they emmigrated. I'd love to hear from you and share information.
Thanks!!! Have fun investigating!!!
