| I am researching the Dvorsky family from eastern Slovakia. Andrew Dvorsky immigrated to America in 1907. He was born in Stulany, Slovakia. I have traced the Dvorsky family back to his father, Adam Dvorsky born in 1852 in Vysny Krucov, Slovakia. He married Zuzana Bucso [Bacso] who was born in 1856 in Kochanovce, Slovakia. They had six children born in Stulany, Slovakia. Names such as Matasovsky, Semancik,Bucso,Hliboko and Novak appear in this research. In addition I am researching the Conklin family who were early pioneers in America. Scotch and Irish names of Lockerby, McCurdy and Murphy have appeared in this heritage line, along with the German surnames of Ruhland and Weinburger, all of whom were early pioneers of America. I have researched the Conklin Surname to my gg-grandfather: Eleazer Conklin who was born in 1824 or 1825 in Berkshire OH. He enlisted in the Union army Feb. 1864 in MN. After being captured in the battle of Brice's Crossroads MS. June 10 1864, he died a prisoner of war in Andersonville GA. prison camp Aug.27,1864, leaving a widow and four orphaned children. |
