Will: Knox County, Tennessee Estate Book 4, page 229. Probated April Session 1827.

Will: "I, Michael Ault of the County of Knox in the State of Tennessee do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following that is first I authorize my executor hereafter named to sell as much of my perishable property immediatley after my decease as will be sufficient to pay all my just debts (if any) and to payment of said.

Will: I give to my wife Mary Ault all my goods and chattels of any description that may remain for and during her natural life and to be at her disposal amongst my children so she may think fit and best. I also give to my wife Mary Ault one third part of all my real estate during her natural life and after her decease I give the same to my children hereinafter named to be enjoyed by them and their heirs forever.

Will: I give to my son George ault in consideration of his purchase from Conrad Ault, Frederick Ault, John Hagey, John Ault, Isaac Woods all their equal share of my real estate and also to my son George his equal share which will include all my landed estate except fifty acres which I give to Jacob Ault where he now lives to be laid out with the public road and to include his imrovements and to have the benefit of four rows of my apple trees taken from the lower end of my orchard over the branch provided he pays or his heirs to my daughter Charity's six children each twelve dollars to be paid them as they arrive at full age. Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my friends Moses Brook, Francis Bounds and my son George Ault executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other or former wills and testaments by me heretofor made.

BIOGRAPHY: Michael Ault (Alt) was born in Germany about the year 1735, and embarked for America at Rotterdam, Holland, on the British ship "Janet", William Cunningham, Master, arriving at the port of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he took the oath of allegiance on October 7, 1751.

BIOGRAPHY: Michael Ault (Alt) was Revolutionary soldier, Private in Continental Line - German Regiment, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania. He was in the 1790 Census of Pennsylvania, one male over 16, including heads of families. Five males under 16, six femailes under 16, including heads of families. His name appears for the first time on the Pennsylvania Township Tax list in 1776, and regularly thereafter for a number of years. From 1771 to 1787 he was assessed with 50 acres and personal property. In 1796 when Mahantango Township was formed from the souther part of Pennsylvania his name had disappeared and that of George, believed to have been his son apeared. Michael lived in what is today Perry Township.

BIOGRAPHY: It is not known the exct year Michael Ault came to Tennessee. The earliest record found was recorded in deed Book B, Vol. II, pages 48 and 49, "Michael Old (Ault) 240 acres from John Karr, October 31, 1796 for $500.00.

BIOGRAPHY: Original Knox County, Tennessee Tax List: 1806, 1807, and 1808, through 1812, Michael Alt (Ault) 200 acres, 1 free poll, no slaves. No Tax List from 1812 to 1826. His name does not apear after 1826.
