FAMILY TRAILS

I am researching the WATKINS FAMILY of SUSSEX CO. DE, CAROLINE and DORCHESTER CO. MD 1765-1865. Related families are: DAVIS,WRIGHT, GOOTEE/GOWTY, and RICHARDS. Some of this family left DE/MD and removed to WARREN CO. IN ca. 1835. Related families in WARREN CO. are: BANNING, DAVIS, HARMON, GERRARD, FETTERS, SHIELDS, BIDDLE.

I am also researching RALPH GATES (also found as YATES) from GREENBRIER and MONROE CO. WV, and CHAMPAIGN and CLARK CO. OH. RALPH GATES was probably born ca 1755, place unknown. He was married to JANE WILEY 1783 in GREENBRIER CO. They were the parents of at least 3 sons: JAMES, JOHN and HENRY. Others connected with RALPH GATES were: JOHN WILEY, FRANCIS BEST, DENNIS MANNIX, PHILIP ENSMINGER, JAMES DEMPSEY. RALPH GATES and FRANCIS BEST left WV ca. 1805 and went to OH. In OH connected families were: ROCK, LEWIS, BOYCE, BEST, MANNIX, ENSMINGER.

Other families I am researching are the JONES/MORRIS/JARRETT lines of GREENBRIER and KANAWHA CO. WV, JOHN FROGG, CARMI JONES from TIPPECANOE CO. IN and CLOUD CO. KS, ELIJAH MILLS, JOHN LUCAS JAMES REILEY, and JONATHAN FOX from BUTLER CO.

  Emma Quinia Jones was born 9 December 1846 in Tippecanoe or Clinton Co., Indiana. She was the daughter of Carmi Jones and Mahala Dougherty. Emma married William Henry Martin 12 January 1864 in Tippecanoe Co., IN. She died 27 November 1924.

  John S. Sheetz b. 1809 Hampshire Co., Va. d. 5 Dec. 1877 Tippecanoe Co., In. was the son of Frederick Sheetz and Nancy Emerson. He married Isabella Adams Parker d/o James Parker and Rebecca Wolf.
• Josephine "Josie" Watkins (43 KB)
  Josephine "Josie" Watkins was born 7 May 1857 in Caroline Co., MD, the daughter of Josiah Watkins and Elizabeth Gowty. Josephine married George S. Lamb in 1878 in Warren Co., IN. They later moved to Battle Ground, Tippecanoe Co., IN, where Josephine died on 27 February 1941. She and her husband are buried in Battle Ground Cemetery, Battle Ground, IN.

  Anne Barbara Woltz was born April 1750 in York Co., PA, and was daughter of John Peter Woltz and Maria Elizabeth Haas. Anna was married to Henry Sheetz and they lived in Hampshire Co., VA. In the mid-1830's Anne left Virginia with her son Zebulon and settled in White Co., IN. She died July 25, 1839, and is buried in Sheetz Cemetery, Monticello, White Co., IN.
• Samuel Garrard (72 KB)
  Samuel Garrard was born April 21, 1832, in Miami Co., OH, the son of John Garrard and Elizabeth Martindale. He was married October 30, 1851 to Juliette Lemming in Warren County, Indiana. Samuel served as a private during the Civil War in Co. G 100th Regiment Indiana Volunteers. Samuel and Juliette removed from Warren County to Tacoma, Pierce County, WA, where he died on January 11, 1896.
