| The ancestral German home of the Mohawk Valley, New York DYGERT/DEICHERT/DEUCHERT family was 6451 Hüttengesäß,(Huettengesaess)(27 km.e.of FRANKFURT). This area is called the Palatinate,which was the garden spot of Germany.However,the Thirty Year's War and the Wars of King Louis XIV had ravaged and desolated the Palatinate of the Rhine.Famine and pestilence was prevalent.In 1708 and 1709 30,000 Palatines left the valley of the Rhine and migrated to London,England where Queen Anne had invited"the distressed Protestants of Germany" to make homes in her American Colonies.WERNER DYGERT b.1662 came to America in 1710.His father was HANS DEICHERT b. 1637 d. Apr. 8,1700 HANS wife was GERDAUT b.1640 d. Jun.26,1721.HANS father was SEBASTIAN DEUCHERT b.abt.1615/1618,who lived at Issigheim near Hanau. In 1709 Werner Deichert, Hunter list # 130, was recorded with wife Anna Catharina Ahl, their children as Johann Peter, Elisabetha, Severinus, Anna Sabina, Anna Margaretha, and Ottilia aboard the ship " James and Elizabeth ". An immigrant named Johann Christian Gerlach, Hunter list # 231, was appointed listmaster and the ship was Captained by Henry Gravener, sailing from London, England in Dec.,1709 and arriving in New York on June 16, 1710. My line of the family stayed in the Mohawk Valley until my GGGgrandfather Peter P. Dygert(1787-1858) moved North to the St. Lawrence Valley in the 1800's. I was born in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, New York and raised there.
