2. JOHN2 WILSON (JOHN ESQ.1) was born August 11, 1773, and died August 13, 1828 in (near) Golden Grove, Anderson, SC. He married SARAH.

OHN WILSON:
A Representative from South Carolina; born at Wilson's Ferry (later Pilzer), Anderson Co., SC; attended the common schools; engaged in agricultural pursuits in Anderson Co., near Golden Grove, SC; operated public ferry across the Saluda River at what is now known as Pelzer. John was elected to the Seventeenth, Eighteenth and Nineteenth Congresses, March 4, 1821-March 3, 1827. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the 20th Congress in 1826. He died at his home near Golden Frove, Anderson Co., SC, on August 13, 1828 and was interred in the family cemetery on his plantation which is now part of the industrial city of Pelzer, SC. Notes from Etta Hart Smithey state that he rode horseback to Congress since it was before the time of stagecoaches.
