The ancestors of Charles Fryer have thus far been elusive. The Fryer family mostly are descendants of the Freer family, early Huguenots who settled in the Kingston area of New York. There were colonial Fryers who settled in Albany, owning a tavern there.Descendants of this family were given a major land grant in the town of Guilderland (Albany County) New York. They settled and farmed there for generations.Guilderland is very close to Princetown and I believe that Charles' family descends from this branch. Some of the Fryer names which do appear in Princetown Census Records are: Nelson, Reuben, and Amos.Nelson and Reuben and their descendants emigrated to Wisconsin.I have no further record of Amos.To date,I have not been able to connect Charles with any of the Fryer families, but I continue to hunt.
