The Vincent Dziurzynski Family

Updated September 9, 2011

According to information from Annie (Dziurzynski) Abila, Vincent Dziurzynski was an only child, born in 1877 in Kracow, Poland. He came to America about 1901, his wife Pamiegi "Marceli" who was also from Poland followed him shortly there after. Her name appears as Marcella Mlynek in Stanley's SSN records. Their first child, Stanley was born in Everson, PA in 1902. Vincent and Marcella had EIGHT children. She died on May 7, 1918.

In the 1920 Census, Vincent was now married to Helen Gosztyla both had lost their spouses on the same year. Helen's 1st husband was Stanley Joseph Gosztyla, who died February 2, 1918 and Vincent's 1st wife Marcella Mlynek died on May 5, 1918. Helen's maiden name was listed in her SSN records as Rybka. Helen was also born in Poland, May 27, 1887 and died in Everson, PA in August of 1967. Helen came into this marriage with FIVE children of her own. Vincent and Helen had an additional child together. Between Vincent and Helen they now (1920) had FOURTEEN CHILDREN.

The names of the Vincent Dziurzynski Children starting with his 1st wife, MARCELLA are: Stanley-1902, Josephine-1904, Frank (Govinski)-1905, Matthew(Mitchell)-1907, Stella-1910, Albert (Eckman)-1913, Casimir (Clyde Eckman)-1915 and Annie-1917 for a total of EIGHT CHILDREN. The names of the Gosztyla Children from the 2nd wife, HELEN are: Sofia-1909, Walter -1910, Joseph-1913, Valerie/Viola-1915, and Mary-1918 a total of FIVE STEP-CHILDREN for Vincent. In 1919, Vincent and Helen had ONE CHILD together his name is William Boleslaw Dziurzynski. That is a total of 14 CHILDREN for the Vincent Dziurzynski Clan. That is 8 Dziurzynski children with Marcella, Helen had 5 Gostyla children with Stanley Joseph, Sr, then Vincent and Helen had 1 more Dziurzynski child together for a total of 14.

In 1980 in Stanley Dziurzynski's obituary the following were mentioned as siblings: Frank Govinski, Albert Eckman, Matthew Mitchell, William Dziurzynski, Joseph Gosztyla, Mrs. Josephine A. Orish, Mrs. Stella Sauers, and Mrs. Ann Abila. At the St. Joseph Cemetery in Everson, PA, my husband and I found Marceli's Tombstone. The inscription written in Polish reads, "Pamiegi Marceli Dziurzynskiej, Died 7 May 1918. Prosi O Zdrowas Marya".

Vincent Dziurzynski returned to Poland in 1930, and was not been heard of since. Most of the Dziurzynski and Goszytla 2nd generation Americans have passed away. William passed away in 2003, his obituary mentioned one living sister, Valeria C. Marak of Monroeville, PA. However, there was no mention of a wife or any children for him, I am assuming that he never married.

The Dziurzynski name takes various spellings from document to document and that makes it difficult when researching. There may be other persons interested or looking for the same information who perhaps are willing to share their information with us.

I started this genealogy in late 2004 and hope to connect the pieces eventually. I found a couple of messages in 2001 from Walt Gosztyla posted in the message boards regarding Vincent as the 2nd husband of his grandmother Helen. I sent him an email in 2004 but did not get any response. I also called him, we had a very short conversation, however,I will continue to pursue this genealogy search. 10/1/2010 GDz
