Michael and Catherine had: Maurice, Michael, William, Thomas, Mary and Denis*(my line) in Adare, Limerick, Ireland. They came to Norwood (Asphodel Twp) Peterborough County, Ontario with Peter Robinson Settlers in 1825 (ship Star). The surname quickly became MULLINS. Maurice died in his 30's and it is unknown if he was married or had children. Thomas was Norwoods first shoemaker, but he moved on to Colbourne or Coburg area of Ontario. Michael's line I am unsure of. Michael was an Innkeeper and property investor, possibly married twice 1) Bridget Leahy; 2) Ann Murphy. Ann is buried in Norwood, I'm not sure where Bridget and Michael are buried. Michael sold his hotel to a Brennan. William died in Hamiton, Ontario (on the mountain). Per his obituary, his children lived in Brooklyn, NY and had a business there. Two daughters married each a Brennan and a Ball. Mary died age 19. Denis left Norwood after losing his farm (had 12-13 children) and ended up in Corry, Erie County, PA by 1870 census. I've found alot of his children, one being a John E. Moffitt...who wad for some reason adopted by a nearby Moffitt/Moffatt family of Norwood, Ontario. John followed father Dennis to Corry, PA. Children of Dennis and Anna Eagan/Egan are: Fanny, Thomas, Denis jr, John MOffitt/att, Mary Ann, Margaret, Elizabeth, Katharine, Martha, Ella Louise, Richard, James, Mary (only one born in PA 1867). 1870 census: in Dennis' household is, no wife listed, Fanny, Dennis jr, Richard, Mary. 1880 census: No Dennis Mullins Martha Mullen listed living with Skidmore family, she married a John H. Smith of Warren PA. Can't find Fanny or Mary. Catharine married a Kingzett in Cleveland OH in 1882, no children listed. Her obit lists another surname to her name, Alsott. She might have been married in Norwood, Ontario to an Ayotte and had children to him. I have her will and no children are listed but siblings and nieces/nephews are. Elizabeth married a ? Williams and resided in Roseneath, Ontario in 1911 and in 1927 either in Norwood or North York, Ontario. Margaret or Mary Ann married a Feely in Norwood. Thomas married a Katherine Carter in Columbus, Erie, PA. John Moffitt married a Clark, had one daughter Margaret, his death record says his parents were Denis and Anna Mullins and family living say it was rumored he was adopted but not legally. Richard married a Margaret Carlow of Warren, PA and are my great grandparents. Margaret was the dau. of Sylvester Carlow and Mary Kelleher; siblings: Felix, Sylvester jr, Hannah, Alice, Elisabeth and herself, whom was the youngest and apparently her mother died the same year she was born, 1864. Ella Louise aka Ellen married a Thorn(e) of Collingwood, Ontario , after husband died, she moved back to Norwood, a son died, and she moved in 1890 with son(s) in Detroit, MICH. Dennis jr, married in Corry, Erie, PA a Footman, she died of pneumonia, no children. 2nd wife, Mary Ann O'Leary. Mary, youngest born 1867 in PA is listed as baptized in Corry, Erie, PA, St. Thomas Catholic Church. I cannot find her. Fanny, lived in Corry PA as of 1870, I cannot find her, she was the oldest in the household besides her father. |
