Find Family
The Harvey family have lived in the village of Newhall, Derbyshire since the late 1700's. This family are the ancestors of my Husband, Mark on his Mother's side and during my research, they have become old friends. The family were from 'working class stock' and many of them were coliers by trade. Their lives were remarkable because they now form part of the local history of the area.
I will remain ever grateful to the people because without them, I would not have my special and adored husband.
My story starts with Richard Harvey (b.1800) and Lydia Brealy(b.1810). These two were a swinging couple! They had their first three children before they were married in 1841! This would have been a scandelous situation at that time in our history. The reasons for their late marriage are unclear. Neither parties appeared to have been married to other people and Census/Parish records show them as living together at that time.
