This page and family tree is being dedicated to my children, Jeremy and Ryan East. I hope that they take on the love and importance of family as I have. The purpose of continuing to gather information for their tree is to let them know that before you know where you are going, you need to know where you come from. I am hoping that by publishing their family tree that others will be able to connect some more branches in order to get a complete and accurate family history. Most all of the information obtained from the Walker branch of this tree was due to the hard work and dedication of a man named Edward R. Walker III. In 1981 he published a book called "Walking with the Walkers" by the Overmountain Press. My mother and grandfather each have a copy of this book and I have found it to be the most valuable source of information in tracing the Walker heritage. Thank you for all of your hard work. I look forward to visiting many of the sites mentioned in the book and taking pictures of grave sites, homesteads, and other places related to this part of my family branch. I am now working on the boys father's side which contain names of East, Guess, Messamore, and Phelps to name a few. This side of the family is currently located in Western Kentucky. From the information I have is from obituaries and family memories. I also have a story that was wrote in 1909 called "My Grandmother's Life" written by her granddaughter. Jeremy and Ryan are the 5th generation of decendents from a young girl mentioned to be about 4 years old at the end of this story. This information has NOT been entered into my tree as I am still gathering information in order to link it to them. Any help or information will be welcomed. |
