He married (1) Unity Bell on January 1819, daughter of James Bell and Mary Carter. He married (2) Elizabeth Gilpin on August 16, 1836.

Military service: 1812, He volunteered at the Wythe County Courthhouse at Evansham (now called Wytheville) and the date has been recorded as March 13, April 13, and April 21 in the year 1814. He was a private in Capt. Jacob Fishback's company in the Virginia Milita. .
Occupation: Farmer.

Robertson Gannaway was a son of Gregory Gannaway, who was a brother to Susannah Gannaway Walker.
