| Richard Kelley is the leader of this large branch of Kelley's. They settled in the southeast corner of county on the county line with Lawrence county on California Branch and also Holly Creek. He moved there around 1840 and lived there for the remainder of his life, living to a ripe old age of 106. Richard had 12 children and was married 3 times. His last wife Nancy Defoe Richardson was sister-in-law to his first four children and the Aunt-in-law to Richard Jr. He ended up his children's brother-in-law and uncle-in-law. Try to figure out that mess. Richard was born to William Kelley Rev. War Soldier and wife Elizabeth. He was born Nov.21,1805 and died Nov.11,1912 days before his 107 birthday. Richard married first Mary Jackson in McMinn Co. Tn in 1829. She died early in their marriage and he again married this time to Martha Eaves. They had 12 children. She died about 1885.
