Descendants of ANDREW HENRY * EATON

Generation No. 2

2. ROBERT ERLE4 EATON (ANDREW HENRY *3, ROBERT ADAMS *2, THOMAS *1) was born November 10, 1887 in PINE GROVE, PICKENS, AL, and died May 03, 1960. He married MARY VIRGINIA BURGESS October 18, 1914.

Notes for ROBERT ERLE EATON:
! According to Erle's daughter, Mary Randel, because of Erle's responsibilities
to his younger siblings, he had to delay his marriage several years. Erle's
father had died in 1911 and Erle was the oldest child. His father had married a
second time in 1908-Jenny Cora Spence- who had been a housekeeper for him
following his first Wife, Edna Elizabeth Calley Eaton's , death in 1905. Jenny
had come as a housekeeper from near Montevello AL. She was much younger than A.
Henry and upon his death was not able to care for the
younger children. The responsibilidty fell to Erle. Jenny left Pine Grove not
too long after A. Henry's death and took her daughter, Margret, and moved to
Texas. She married again and lived out the rest of her life in Texas.(some said
that she went to Texas to get married after answering a mail order bride
advertisement-there is no proof of this).

! Henry continued to live at home following Winnie's death. His daughter, Mary
Ann Wade took care of him. He required a lot of care and attention. He
gradually became weaker and more dependent on Mary Ann. The last months of his
life he was totally unable to do anything for himself. Domestic help was
secured to assist Mary Ann along with help from Marie Logan, his youngest
daughter, and his grand children, Angela and Heather. On Thanksgiving Day Mary
Ann called all the family to tell them the
end looked near. About 1:10 A.M. on Tuesday morning, Nov. 24, 1995, he died at
home. He died 2 years and three months after Winnie. He was 95 years and four

Notes for WINNIE LOUISE
* GREER:
! On Friday evening, August 13, 1993, Winnie experienced pain in her chest. She
endured this pain all night, refusing to allow her daughter, Marie Logan, to
take her to the hospital. By early Saturday morning Marie insisted that they
go. Marie hurriedly arranged for a neighbor and Marie's daughter, Heather, to
stay with Henry. Marie and Winnie drove the sixty miles to the Baptist Hospital
in Jackson, Ms. Winnie, in pain, was able to walk into the ER at the hospital.
They began the regular routine. Winnie said, "I think I'm going under". She
lost consciousness and her blood pressure dropped rapidly. She was put on a
breathing machine and all emergency procedures were put into effect. Marie
called her sister , Mary Ann Wade, who was visiting her daughter, Angela, on
the Ms. Gulf Coast. She also called her brother, Roy, in Indiana, and he in
turn called the brother, Harris, in New York. All came as soon as possible.

Mary Ann
came to Port Gibson and got Henry and brought him to the hospital before noon
on Sat. He was able to see Winnie, but she did not seem to recognize him,
however , he talked to her. Roy and Harris arrived in Jackson on the same plane
at 8:30 p.m. They saw winnie about 9:30 p.m. and she had rallied a bit and was
able to recognize them, although she could not talk. About 2:00 a.m. Sunday
morning she became worse. Henry and Mary Ann returned Sunday morning and Henry
again visited with her and talked to her. She had her eyes open but was unable
to make any response. Winnie's sisters, Perla Mae and Kathleen and several
nieces were in the waiting room most of the day. Marie and her husband,
Kenneth, and Roy and Harris were at the hospital for the entire time. Mary Ann
was there part of the time for she was carrying for Henry.
At 4:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. August 15, 1993, Winnie died.
