Buried at Oglesridge Cemetary, Noble Co. OH. Emigrated from London to Philadelphia on board the ship "Minerva" in January 1774 at age 15. He was a laborer and Indentured servant. He was a glass blower.A little over one and a half centurys ago near London, England, a little boy was born. He took the name of James Y. Harper after his parents. Little is known as to the color of his hair or his eyes, and there is no knowledge how he liked the new world into which he arrived.When a young man he decided to leave his native land of England and migrate to the New World as it was known in those days.He was just a young man and no doubt with bright prospects as he came to this country with its wonderful prospects and great opportunities.When he arrived in America, "the land of the free and the home of the brave,"he settledin the state of Pennsylvania.Here he worked at the trade of a glass blower.He knew nothing of the modern mechanical powers of today.His only resource was that of lung power, which he used in his profession.He was married and reared a family, of which DavidHarper was a son, born February 22, 1807 who carried the family name with his descendants of whom this brief record is written.
