Notes for John Roades II:
      Sailed to Pennsylvania in 1682 (before his father did) as an eighteen year old.
      Came as a servant and received his head land as recorded in the Minutes of the Board of Property, Book G, 21 Jan 1701/02. Was a yeoman farmer.
      Children's names are from a record of the children still living in 1758 (in a report which included John Roades as one of the original trustees of Plymouth Meeting) and two more named in the will of John's son in law, Thomas McCarty, in 1725.

      Entered public life, held many offices including Mayor of the City of Philadelphia, friend of Benjamin Franklin (their letters survive), delegate to the First Continental Congress, and helped found the Pennsylvania Hospital among other important activities.
      His will names his wife, Elizabeth, his children Samuel and Hannah, his son in law Thomas Franklin (husband of his deceased daughter, Mary), the children of daughter Mary, and a niece, Mary Custard.
      Mary Custard, mentioned in her Uncle Samuel's will, was the daughter of George and Mary Roades Custer.

Francis' will probated 1762. He was a constable in King George Co.
Francis, who was barely of age when his father died lived on the land let him by his father, part of the original Triplett patent. No will has been found. In Feb. 23, 1731 he served as executor to his father's estate.

      Notes from Barbara Denahey: The earliest Drake ancestor identified is Captain Francis Drake. He was born about 1618 probably in Devonshire, England. He apparently immigrated to Portsmouth, New Hampshire by 1635. He later lived in Piscataway, New Jersey. His will was dated 29 Sep 1667 and was recorded in Middlesex County, New Jersey. He married Mary Walker.
