Abt. 1832 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, son of MICHAEL CROW and HANNA HUHN. He was born 10 Dec 1807 in Sjpringhill Twp, Fayette Co., PA, and died 18 May 1891.

Notes for SARAH GANS:
      From Bill Buck 23 Aug 2002: Michael 1 was the father and father-in-law of your starting point. He was born in 1766 and died in 1864. He and his wife Hannah are buried in Fayette Co. The house of Michael and Sarah still stands and is occupied by a lovely Swiss lady -- Mrs. A.J. Emmennegger who is well over 90. I believe her family bought the house shortly after "Granny" Sarah died in 1898.

      Crow family information from Okey King in an e-mail 1 March 2002:
George Custer's grandaughter Sarah Gans married my 3rd great grand uncle Michael Crow Jr. Michael Sr. is my 3rd great grandfather. Sarah Gans Crow's children are my first cousins 3 times removed. Michael Sr. Crow is their grandfather.
      Note: Michael Crow Jr.listed as an assessor in Spring Hill TWP in 1854.
      Michael Crow Sr. was a whiskey maker by trade. He would make his batch, get on board a flatboat (or keelboat) float down the Ohio to New Orleans, sell his liquified corn, get a boat to New York, buy a horse and ride back to PA to start all over again. When you consider that he did this during the Indian Wars, he must have been quite stout of heart. I would imagine that he also took part in the Whiskey Rebellion which George Washington so firmly quashed.
