Notes for GEORGE W. RUTTER: From Tom Rutter 16 Feb 2005: If you pick up the line with Dr. Paul Custer and his wife Nancy Hatfield, their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Caster was my g grandmother and was married to George W. Rutter, my g grandfather. It is interesting that you traveled to Pottstown to research where Peter Custer was baptized. I went there to research Thomas Rutter, the iron master and his family. The Custers and the Rutters were active in Germantown. I understand Thomas Rutter was the second mayor of Germantown. The Rutters and the Potts intermarried often. My direct line from my father is back to Richard Rutter of Cecil Co., MD b. 1746. |
