We are an African American Family researching our family history. We have quite a few facts and would like information on anything we can find.We are researching the surnames Gentry, Generally, Renfro, White, Edwards, Watson and Cash in the midwest region of Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Virginia, and Arkansas. These are the primary areas, but there may be more. There was a Gentry that moved from Missouri to Canada and we are not sure of the connection. We Know that Lee or one of his sons owned a lead mine in Franklin County Missouri. That was purchased for him with his money by his white owners son and turned over to him at a later date. We also know that there were interacial unions then and up until the present time. We know that some of us were slaves and others were never slaves. We know that Ike Renfro had 3 sons and Lee changed his name to Generally we believe the family that owned him or he lived with were named Gentry. Lee Married Elvira White. They married in January of 1875. Elvira died in April 1932 in St. Clair Missouri. We would appreciate any information anyone has or has seen in their searches. Thank You so much. |
