Will of Elizabeth (Forman) Storey of Chesterton, Cambridgeshire, England
In the name of God Amen, the ffith day of January in the yeare of the raigne of our soveraigne lord Charles by the grace of God of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland kinge Defender of the faith &c the Thirteenth Anno Domini One thousand six hundred thirtie seaven I Elizabeth Story of Chesterton in the countie of Cambridge and Diocesse of Ely Widdow being in good and perfect memorie thankes bee given to God therefore, doe make and ordyne this my last will and testament in manner and forme following
ffirst and chiefely I bequeath my soule into the hands of God my maker
hoping in the merits of his onely begotten sonne Jesus Christ my alone Saviour
to have free remission of all my Sinnes and my body to be interred in the
Earth from Whence it came there to be decentlyie buryed att the discretion
of my Executors whome I doe nominate and appointe to be Robert Storey my
now eldest sonne and Phillip Storey my youngest sonne And I doe nominate
and appointe Edmond Jackson of Boston my sonne in lawe and William Harris
of London Clerke my kinsman to be Supervisors of this my will to see it well
and truelie performed in all points as much as in them lyeth And I doe give
to eyther of them for their paines therein twentie Shillinges
Item I give unto my sonne Robert Story One hundred poundes
Item I give unto my sonne John Story One hundred poundes to be paid him within One yeare next after my decease
Item I give unto my Sonne Phillip Story One hundred poundes
Item I give unto my daughter Mary Izatson widdow twentie pounds to be paid her within One yeare next after my decease
Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Harvey ffowerty poundes to be paid her within One yeare next after my decease
Item I give unto my granchilde Edward Story sonne of Thomas Story deceased Twenty pounds to be paid him at the age of twentie and one yeares.
Item I give unto Robert Storie my grandchilde sonne of Robert Story the sume of twentie pounds to be paid him att the age of twentie and One yeares
Item I give unto my grandchilde John Story the sonne of Robert Storie twentie punds to be paid him att the age of twentie and One yeares
Item I give unto Anne Story daughter of the foresayd Robert Story twentie pounds to be paid her att the age of twentie and One yeares or day of marriage which shall first happen
Item I give unto Rachaell Story my grandchilde and daughter of my sonne Robert Story Ten pounds to be paid her att the age of twentie and One yeares or day of Marriage which shall first happen
Item I give unto Jane Story daughter of my sonne Robert Story Ten pounds to be paid her att the age of twentie and One yeares or day of marriage which shall first happen
Item I give unto Sarah Story daughter of the said Robert my grandchilde Tenn pounds to be paid her att the age of twentie and One yeares or day of marryage which shall first happen
Item I give unto James Story my grandchilde sonne of the said Robert Ten pounds to be paid him att his age of twentie and One yeares. And if it shall happen that any of theise my said sonnes children shall dye before they shall attayne unto the age of twentie and one yeares or day of marriage: Then my will and pleasure is That the children of my said sonne Robert Story then liveing shall equally devide amongst them the legacie or legacies of the deceased brothers or Sisters
Item I give unto my grandchild Susan Story daughter of my sonne Phillip Storie twentie pounds to be paid to her at the day of her marriage or twentie and One yeares which shall first happen. And yf she dyeth before Then my will and pleasure is that it goeth to the next childe my sonne shall have and for want of children to my sonne Phillip
Item I give unto Phillip Story my grandchilde the sonne of the said Phillip the sume of twentie pounds to be paid him att the age of twentie and One yeares And if he dye before Then I will the said twentie pounds unto such other children as my said sonne Phillip shall then have, and for want of children, then to my said sonne Phillip
Item I give unto Robert Story my grandchilde sonne of my sonne Anthony Story deceased twentie pounds to be paid him att the age of twentie and One yeares
Item I give unto Anthony Story my grandchild sonne of my foresaid sonne Anthony Story deceased the sume of twentie pounds to be paid unto him att the age of twentie and one yeares. And if either of them my said grandchildren shall dye before they shall attayne unto the age of One and twentie yeares then hee that shalbe liveinge to have the whole sume of ffowerty pounds, And yf both of them shall dye then my will and pleasure is that it shall goe to my foresaid Executors
Item I give unto Phillip Iyatson, Mary Watton, Mary Harris and Elizabeth Harris children of my daughter Mary Iyatson five pounds a peece to be paid them respectively withon One yeare next after my decease, And if it shall happen that any of them shall dye before the receipt of the said ffive pounds, then my will is that the children of the said partie or parties deceased shall have the aforesaid ffive pounds equally to be devided amongst them and to be paid them att the discretion of my Executors
Item I give unto the children of John Iyatson the sonne of my said daughter Mary deceased the sume of ffive pounds to be paid unto them or such of them as shalbe liveing att their of twentie and One yeares
Item I give unto William Harvey, FFrancis Harvey, Elizabeth Harvey and her youngest child now liveing, children of my daughter Elizabeth Harvey ffive pounds a peece to be paid to them as they shall come to the ade of twentie and One yeares And if any of them shall departe this life before they attaine to the yeares of One and twentie: Then my will and pleasure is that Elizabeth Harvey daughter of my said daughter Elizabeth shall have the legacies of Such deceased to be paid unto her att her age of twentie and One yeares And yf it shall happen the said Elizabeth to dye before thee attaine the age of twentie and One yeares: That then aswell her owne legacie as the legacie of such of her brethern and sisters as shall dye before their said age of twentie and One yeares shalbe equally devided amongst such of them as shalbe liveing att their age of twentie and one yeares, And my will and meaneing is that the ffive pounds formerly given to my said grandchilde Elizabeth Harvey payable att her age of twenty and One yeares shalbe paid att her said age or day of marriage which shall first happen
Item I give unto my grandchilde Nathaniell Jackson sonne of Edmond Jackson my sonne in lawe Tenn pounds to be paid him att the age of One and twentie yeares
Item I give and bequeath unto Sara Jackson my grandchilde Tenn pounds to be paid her att the age of One and twentie yeares or day of marryage which shall first happen
Item I give unto the residue of my grandchildren which the said Edmond Jackson had by my daughter Bridget Jackson ffive pounds a peece to be paid them or such of them as shalbe liveing when they shall attayne their age of twenty and one yeares And if it happens that any of the said residue of the children of the said Edmond Jackson shall dye before they shall attayne their ages of twentie and One yeares Then my will is that Mary Jackson their sister shall have the legacie or legacies of such as shall dye And yf the said Mary shall dye before her said age or day of marryage Then her said legacie and the legacie of such other as shalbe soe deceased shalbe equally devided amongst such of them as shalbe liveing att their said age of twentie and One yeares
Item I give unto my kinseman Michaell Storie of Cambridge ffowertie shillings
Item I give unto Jane Warren wife of Edward Warren ten shillings
Item I give unto the servants of my sonne Phillip Story which shalbe dwelling with him att my decease Thirty shillings to be disposed amongst them att the discretion of my Executors
Item I give unto the poore of the Towne of Chesterton Three pounds to be distributed amongst them uppon the day of my funerall,
Provyded and my will is that if any ambiguitie or question shall hereafter happen concerning any matter conteyned in this my will. That soe often as it shall soe happen Itt shalbe determined by my said Supervisors without any suite in Lawe
Item I give unto my grandchilde Phillip Storie my downe ffeather bedd with boulsters and pillowes and coverlett the best I have with blankets alsoe and one paire of holland sheetes and a paire of flaxen sheetes with twoe paire of the best pillowbeeres.
All the residue of my goods and chattells unbequeathed (Saveing that I
give towards the repaires of the Church of Chesterton the sume of ffowerty
shillings) I give and bequeath unto my Executors before named And soe I beseech
God to have mercie uppon mee unto whome I comitt my Spirit Amen
In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale being conteyned in three sheetes of paper and I doe publish and declare the same to be my last Will and testament in the presence of Signum
