Indenture from Robert and Elizabeth Allison to Henry Jones, Washington Co. VA 1798

This Indenture made the nineteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight between Robert Allison and Elizabeth his wife of the one part of the county of Washington and State of Virginia and Henry Jones of the county of Sullivan and State of Tennessee of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Robert Allison and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred pounds current money of Virginia the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Robert Allison hath granted bargained and sold to the said Henry Jones and his heirs one certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and thirty seven acres be the same more or less being part of a larger tract containing two hundred and eighty acres Granted to said Allison by patent dated the 27th day of November 1793 lying and being in the County of Washington on a branch of the middle fork of Holstein river bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at two black oaks and chained(?) on a ridge a corner to James Sparks part North fifty two degrees East eighty two to black oak at corner of Francis Kincannon's land and with his line * Lewis' line * North fifty eight degrees East thirty eight poles to black oak and white oak North thirty two degrees East twenty six poles to two white oaks North seventy three degrees Easy twenty poles to three white oaks South sixty degrees and thirteen poles to a white oak North sixty nine degrees East ninety three to a cucumber and an oak sapling on the West bank of the spring branch thence South 17 poles to the mouth of the branch South thirty east ninety four poles to a white oak and dogwood South 47 degrees West 156 to a white oak on the side South 63 West 48 poles to a hiccory white oak and walnut West 56 poles passing Samuel Edmondsons old corner to a large white oak South 18 West 8 poles to a white oak and hiccory supposed to be a corner for James Dysarts past and with the line thereof North 12 East 32 poles to a large white oak North 45 and 42 poles to a large white oak on the South side of the creek North 65 West 22 poles to three white oak saplings on the north side of the Creek North eight West eighty eight poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances To have and to hold the said tract of land with its appurtenances to the said Henry Jones and his heirs forever and the said Robert Allison and Elizabeth his wife doth covenant for themselves and their heirs with the said Henry Jones and his heirs that they the said Robert Allison and wife the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the Henry Jones and his heirs against the claims of all persons whatsoever will forever warrant and defend. In * whereof said Robert Allison and Elizabeth his wife hath subscribed their names and affixed their seals the day and year above written.
