    John Edwards and his wife Sarah O'Neal married in Johnston County NC in Nov 27,1787. Shortly afterward located in Burnsville, Anson County NC. They obtained a land grant and built a log cabin. Part of the original land grant and home was handed down to son James then Troy, then Norfleet then Troy Lee. The place is still in the hands of decendants as of 11/15/2000. The log cabin was added on to and the home remodeled through the years. The graveyard of John Edwards and Sarah O' Neal is across the road from the home. If this house could talk, would tell of happiness, joy, pain and sorrow.

    Burnsville School pictured in the first School Annual of 1948 called "The Agricola". 12th Grade home room teacher, Mrs Rosa Parker Simpson took my graduating class of 1948 and started the first school annual, she named it the Agricola, said it mean agriculture and wanted it to represent our community which consisting of farms. Hoorah for Mrs. Simpson, my all time favorite teacher. She taught English which I never mastered. The School was closed some years ago during consolidation, while vacant, caught on fire and was demolished in 2005. The Burnsville Volunteer Fire Dept obtained the school property and a new Fire Department building was built on the spot.

    Pictured is a 1926 Willys Knight Model 70 Sedan Automobile. Willys Knight manufactured automobiles 1913 to 1933. My grandfather James Calvin Sneed and grandmother Millie Ellen Helms had a 1926 Willys Knight Auto very similar to the one pictured, I recall it sitting under the carport and never driven during my childhood years, My grandfather had a stroke in 1936 and couldn't walk until he died in 1944. When we went to visit them I recall playing in that car a lot, it had some very plush seats.

    Boyd and Eulius, pictured with their mother were the eldest of 5 children to Bogan Mills and Connie Alma Pope. Boyd and Eulius were my 2nd cousins. Bogan died at age 31 and left Connie pregnant with 4 young children, Connie survived the ordeal, married twice again, outlived 3 husbands and died at age 95.     Elijah Edwards, our grandson at age 4 years and 10 months playing Zoo Tycoon on my computer. Brings back memories of my childhood being raised on a farm in White Store community, no electricity, no television, no running water, no inside bathroom, no heated bedrooms, no air conditioning, one kerosene lamp in the whole house providing very dim light at night, not even a flashlight had to use a kerosene lantern instead. Computer, we didn't know the word.What a difference only 70 years later from 1937 to 2007. We are living a wonderful lifestyle compared to our ancestors.
