This has been a very rewarding experience. With in the last 5 year I have learned who my paternal grandparents & aunts were from the 1900 Census for Coalgate, Coal, Oklahoma. My grand parents were William M Edwards and Mary C Walker Edwards and my aunts were Martha S Edwards and Nina Edwards.
I have a couple of note from my Dad's mother & one of his sisters. The first note was post marked Dallas, Texas and was dated 1926. There were no names in the note and it says, in part, "Mom and I would like to see you, and sister too." This must have come as quite a shock to Dad, because his father, William M. Edwards, had told the two boy that their mother had died and that their sisters went to live with someone else. The second note was written by one of sister for their mother. It also requests that he go see them, or at least write. The note mentions his brother Elmer. The return address given was 1907 St. Louis Street, Dallas Texas, and was dated November 29, 1929. One would expect to find them in the 1930 Federal Census. Unfortunately, the enumerator skipped some of the residences on that block. I have found 1921, 1911, and 1901 St. Louis Street. I have not found a map of Dallas for that time period and the current maps have a couple interstate highways going through that part of Dallas. I30 eliminated some streets. I don not know my aunts married names and whether or not my grandmother remarried. I have now hit a road block.

Much of the information on the Eastwood/Morris/Andrus families came from my aunt, Maxine (Eastwood) Van Vorst. She spent about 5 years visiting churches and cemeteries and looking up data from Ancestry.Com. She was an inspiration to me to try to find my ancestry on my father’s side of the family. As I have time, I will include more and more from her book, “Ancestors and Descendants of my parents Robert Monroe Eastwood and Mary Louisa “Lucy” Morris.” Library of Congress, Catalog Card Number: 96-78625.
