The Sargents from Milton Abbott and Lezant started out as industrious people originally from Tavistock, research has them as Burgermasters in the 1500's and a John Sargent was a member of Parliament in Oliver Cromwells Government, a John Sargent also was a vicar in Tavistock in the 1400 and he took the position after a Vicar Davy left also in 1400. the Davy's and Sargents remain in the area to this day.
The marriage in to the Coath and Jope family put them further afield to Great Torrington where we now have the Shorts, and Shephards residing.. this research has taken 40 years, this was painstaking and slow until the advent of the computor and the many programs that were then available, and the sharing of the information on the net was an inspiration.
A lot of thanks to the original sharers if information in the the LDS. I made the first breakthrough with the Jope family having the good fortune to encounter the family of Col Norman Jope. USAF,retired and the gathering of the information opened a pool of information, followed by the Davy family from Winnipeg and on and on.
I have been so gratefull for the sharing of information that I feel I must do the same and say thank you to everyone who feel We Are Here.. because of our Ancesters and we are the accumilation of all our genes thanks to them.
There are so many interesting stories and the looking into there lives, some illustrious and some very sad and poor but we are proud of everyone of them and thank them for being who and what we are today.
